Have you ever thought about wearing a bullet-proof vest or panel?

Is it “realistic” that situations could arise where you could see the benefit in having one? (This could be in your personal or professional life).

As a concealed carry permit holder, the idea had crossed my mind, but until recently I had never taken the time to investigate available options.

That changed just a few weeks ago at SHOTShow 2019 when I discovered Premier Body Armor, a company committed to providing personal protection to law enforcement officers and law-abiding citizens.

At first glance I was intrigued by their products (especially the Level IIIA Purse Panel), but first I had to address a personal question- “How necessary is this?” My perspective shifted when I learned about their school supplies (School Backpack Armor, Armored Laptop Case, 3-Ringed Binder Cover, and 3-Ringed Pencil Pouch) and then a new question arose: “Would I invest in protective armor for my child?”

The answer “Absolutely!” came so quickly to me that I had to step back and remind myself… I don’t have kids! But you get the idea. When I do, I’ll do everything in my power to keep them safe! (For more, check out Bullet-proof Backpacks, The Most Underrated and Overlooked Back To School Accessories

So, after having this spontaneous response, I immediately began to view body armor in a different light . . . and I agreed to test one out.

The “purse panel” pictured above is 9.5 x 9.5 inches and .22 inches thick. I was surprised by how light it felt, and really didn’t notice a difference in weight when I added it to my backpack. The price for Premier Body Armor’s version is $149.95 and includes a 5-year warrantee. While the ballistic panel doesn’t protect against every type of bullet, it’s been tested against 17 different calibers (size of bullet). (Click here and scroll down to see the list of the calibers).

I believe there’s always something you can do to become a little safer and this is one option that’s good, especially in a gun-free zone where you’re unable to fight back or in a situation where you’re responsible for protecting or shielding a dependent.

One of my favorite aspects of the panel is, after putting one in your bag, you can essentially forget about it! Just go about your day and if you’re carrying your bag, you have an added line of defense at your fingertips.

“Chime In!”

In what sort of situation(s) might you consider using a bullet-proof panel?

How could a self-protection panel like this benefit you on a daily basis?
